Prayers Answered

Before Mamma and Pappa ever left the house, they would kneel down and say a prayer for the day, thanking and asking for blessings for each one of their children and also for each other. It was a foggy morning as Pappa got the car out of the garage and met Mamma on the edge of the driveway at 3:30 a.m. Pappa would take Mamma to work, drop her off and then he would go to his job. This morning was so terribly foggy that they just had to find corners they recognized and then turn. Finally, they couldn't even see the white line in the street so Mamma got out and walked on the white line right in front of the car and lead the way like a little light house. As she looked back at Pappa she realized his weren't the only lights that were following her. In the fog she was able to see dozens of foggy lights all behind Pappas car as she carefully walked down the white line of the street. They finally found her building and she got out and prayed that Pappa would find his way safely. He left the driveway of Mamma's work and started going what he thought was familiar to him. It started getting lighter and he knew he should be to work by now but still he was driving until his car finally stopped on some railroad tracks and would go no further. He sat in his car and pushed on the accelerator but the car only rocked but wouldn't go any further. He noticed that there were tracks in piles and realized he must be at the end of some railroad tracks or in the middle of some train construction zone. Whatever the reason, he was lost! He was in a strange new land where he didn't know the language, saw no one he could try to communicate his dilemma too and he was getting more and more frustrated and sad. He finally bowed his head and asked his Heavenly Father to please come to his rescue. To help him get out of this predicament and find his way to work. He felt more hopeless then he had for a long time. When he said Amen, he brought his head up and someone was standing by his car with chains and a truck. He opened the door and tried talking to the man but the man smiled but spoke not a word. He put the chain on the car, got back in his truck and pulled it off the tracks. Pappa thanked him and thanked him in German and as well as he could in English but still the man said not a word. Pappa knew the universal language of money so he asked him to wait and, even though Mamma and Pappa didn't have a lot of money, he got a few bills out of his wallet and went back to give it to him. But....he was gone. Pappa didn't hear him coming and he didn't hear him leave. What he did know was that Heavenly Father heard his plea. He returned to his car and bowed his head again this time with a happy heart knowing that his prayers were heard and answered.

What a neat story. I haven't heard this one before. I can imagine Oma leading the way in the light of the car. So sweet.
